Note: The decisive step in solving the problem of the diagnostic role of measuring the indicator of mental development was the creation by R. Sternberg of the three-dimensional concept of practical intelligence. According to the author’s view, there are three main elements in the structure of intelligence: analytical (based on the ability to identify and analyze problems of reality); creative (based on the ability to find new, unverified solutions) and practical (decisive, based on the ability to apply all the knowledge accumulated before to solve practical problems). The key concept of Sternberg is the so-called implicit knowledge (Tacit knowledge), which accumulate in the process of learning and life activity of a person and are responsible for achieving success. The manifestation of implicit knowledge is the ability to learn quickly, the inclusion of new knowledge in the existing structure and, as a consequence, the ability to use each piece of knowledge to achieve the goals. Based on the representation of this kind of knowledge, Sternberg formulates the concept of success intellect (Successful intelligence, Sternberg, 1997) and creates a series of tests to measure the professional suitability of a person in various fields of activity.
