Dual nationality of senators: ECP issues clarification at SC’s behest | Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a statement regarding four elected senators with dual nationalities, on orders from the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court, on the eve, ordered the ECP to stop notification of the victory of four senators: Sadia Abbasi, Harun Akhtar, Nujat Sadiq and Chaudhry Sarvar.
The ECP, in a statement, said that it does not distort facts. It was further stated that the time for verification was extended to 12 hours after the Ministry of the Interior had submitted the lists to all returning officials at 16:00.
According to the press secretary of the ECP, four senators filed affidavits about the transfer of their foreign citizens, Returned officers and the appeal tribunal, both released four senators.
