NAB KP obtain details of Imran’s govt helicopter usage | Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: According to the instructions of the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Javid Iqbal, the wing of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an accountable person, received information about the use of government helicopters Imran Khan provincial administration administration, sources told Geo News on Thursday.
Sources added that NAB KP also provided a contract for the sale of helicopters, as well as rules and regulations for the use of aircraft.
Earlier, the chairman of the NAB led the director of the KP (DG) to conduct an investigation into the official helicopters reported by Imran to the Defense Minister of the KP.
On January 29, Geo News reported that the KP government spent millions of rupees on the use of provincial government helicopters by Imran.
The documents received by Geo News from the KP Department showed that the PTI chairman used the government's helicopters for free for a total of 74 hours to drive about 18,000 kilometers.
The provincial government recorded in its books a total expenditure of 1.2 million rupees in the amount of 28,865 rupees per hour for 40 trips of Khan on two helicopters – Mi-17 and Ekurei.
. Such trips using a private helicopter would cost the chairman of the PTI tens of millions of rupees, according to estimates.
Khan used the Mi-17 for 21 hours 50 minutes on 12 trips in the amount of the registered expense Rs1,270,307
Similarly, he used the Ecureuil helicopter 28 times for a total of 52 hours and 5 minutes , which amounted to a registered expense of Rs 836,875.
In combination, Khan used both helicopters for a total of 73 hours and 55 minutes, resulting in expenditures of Rs 102.177 thousand registered by the provincial government.
The chief of the PTI, whose party controls the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, used helicopters for round-trips to and from Bani Gala, Islamabad, Mardan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat and Natigali, Kohat, Batagram and Chakdara.
In their documents, the administrative department mentioned the purpose of flights as "official use and urgent nature of work".
. Speaking to Geo News, the chief adviser to the Chief Minister of the Air Force, Mohammad Amin, said that Imran should accompany the chief minister on these trips.
However, when asked, Amin estimated that the use of helicopters costs between Rs 150,000 and Rs 200,000 per hour – much more than the average hourly rate of Rs 28,865, at which costs were recorded in books provincial administration.
Similarly, in a statement, Information Minister Shah Shahman said that Khan had never traveled only by government helicopters.
"Imran used a helicopter in the interests of the people and at the request of the provincial government together with the chief minister and other ministers," Farman said in his statement, calling the report "propaganda."
