One Rangers personnel martyred, five terrorists killed during Lyari encounter | Pakistan
KARACHI: At least one Rangers official was tortured and four injured on Tuesday night in Zikri Para during regular patrols when terrorists opened fire on their vehicle, a spokesman said
Grenades and homemade ammunition were used during an attack on Rangers personnel, the spokesman said, adding that the wounded officers were transferred to a civil hospital.
The Rangers fired back at the terrorists, successfully killing five of them, followed by an additional contingent who arrived shortly afterwards to assist.
There were also reports of intermittent firing in the area.
In addition, Kamar Ali Mastawi, Geo News reporter at the scene, said that the attackers also used automatic cannons. He said that the terrorists allegedly belonged to the group Zirik Liari, who recently tried to regroup and reform.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Rangers and the police over the presence of suspected bandits in the area, the source said, adding that the names included the notorious Ghaffar Zikri and Shiraz Zikri.
Shiraz Zikri, added sources, reached Lari from Baluchistan a few days ago.
Ghaffar Zikri, on the other hand, disappeared into the linguistic environment of the Bindistan Bindar immediately after the operation of Lari. He was named in more than 100 criminal cases.
His cousin was recently arrested.
However, this area was subsequently cordoned off, and the entry and exit points are sealed off. Rangers and police personnel began a search operation.
Hands with hand grenades, three homemade bombs, one 9mm (9mm) pistol and firearm logs were found near the dead terrorists, the Rangers spokesman said, adding that the Identification Process continued.
