PML-N to include plan of Bahawalpur, South Punjab province in its manifesto: Leghari | Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Energy Minister Abais Legari on Friday announced that the Pakistan Muslim Nawaz League (PML-N) will include the plan of Bahawalpur province and South Punjab to its manifesto for elections.
After holding a press conference here, Lehari said that some of their scholars from South Punjab had resigned from their membership in the National Assembly, but PML-N would cope with this sudden political trick in a positive approach to she always dreamed of developing in South Punjab
On Monday, eight legislators of PML-N from South Punjab announced about secession from the ruling party. Those who left PML-N included 6 MNAs and 2 MPAs, which announced the beginning of a mass movement for the creation of the southern Punjab of a separate province.
Lehari said that his party not only received resolutions concerning the South Punjab passed, but Bahawalpur too. "Projects in all areas, including health, education, communication and irrigation, are being completed in the southern part of the Punjab."
The minister said that 37 percent of the Punjab budget was spent on development projects in the southern provinces. "South Punjab has an annual budget of 206 billion rupees," added Lehar.
He further said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif stayed in South Punjab during the devastation caused by the massive floods in 2010.
