President concerned by growing trend of intolerance | Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoun Hussain on Sunday called for national unity for the "charter of morality" and recommended to all layers of society to observe religious and constitutional restrictions, expressing their differences, defending society from moral deterioration.
In a statement published by the presidential house, the president expressed concern over the growing trend of intolerance in the country, believing that such an attitude would prove to be destructive for the country.
This trend of intolerance will affect everyone, both individually and collectively, which can also turn the country's success against terrorism into failure, he added.
He said that since the government was responsible for protecting the life, property and dignity of every citizen, the relevant departments should not show weakness in ensuring the security of national leaders, since
A warning about those elements that turned disagreement in hostility, he said that such behavior would be devastating for society. He said that, unfortunately, the younger generation was not warned about the consequences of this trend of intolerance.
This could have serious consequences if the government and all sectors of society were unable to take preventive measures, he said
He said that a difference of opinion symbolizes a healthy society, but when these differences cross borders of decency, it becomes dangerous, and the country is facing the same situation today.
This behavior leads to the suppression of moderate voices and instead turns society into chaos.
No one, including politicians, religious scholars and people, will remain safe from destruction if the meaning does not prevail, he noted.
The President also feared that such a trend could also squander our ten-year efforts against extremism and terrorism.
He appealed to all segments of society, including politicians, ordinary people, and especially the media, to create unity against such a trend of extremism.
President Mamnun also turned to political, non-political and religious segments to express his differences, observing the teaching of religion and constitutional restrictions, otherwise the social deterioration of society would be inevitable.
