SC orders transcript of Daniyal Aziz’s statements be handed to his counsel | Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the lawyer of the federal minister of privatization Daniyal Aziz will be provided with a transcript of the statements Aziz, considered contemptuous court.
A three-seated bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Judge Azmat Said, heard a notice of a day-moto against the Minister for contempt of court.
The court also indicated that the disputed statements made by Aziz will be covered in the transcript.
Aziz's lawyer Advocate Ali Raza asked the court for the video mentioned in the suo motu notice, after which the court informed the lawyer about the receipt of video clips in the press information department.
The hearing was adjourned until March 6.
Previously, Aziz's lawyer requested a record of the incidents in accordance with the court, his client gave controversial speeches and statements.
In a statement submitted to the Supreme Court, Raza stated that the article in the newspaper of September 9, 2017, mentioned in the notification suo motu, concerns a press conference at the PID. He added that, according to him, the news article was wrong and deceptive.
About another copy, mentioned in the notice suo motu – a video from September 12, 2017, broadcast on a private channel. Aziz's lawyer wrote that his client did not remember being on the program of any television channel that day.
The third link in the notice concerns news broadcast on September 15, 2017 on a private television channel.
Aziz the lawyer requested the recording of a news article and videos, stating that it is important to consider them in the interests of justice and before his client makes a response to the notification of the prize court.
The notice of the search for Aziz was issued by the Supreme Court on February 19 after February 2, he was disregarded of the judicial notice about his "contentious speeches and statements made during television shows."
